Below are the rules set forth by Florida Wiener Dog Derby Inc. as the officials rules for the Florida Wiener Dog Derby:

Event Rules:

1)   Have fun, this is a family fun filled event.

2)   Please no Alcohol or drugs on site. 

3)   No Coolers are allowed, this is a Shell Factory policy.  Food and drinks will be available. You may bring water for your dog.

4)   All animals must be leashed if not participating in a race.
 
5)  Please clean up after your pet.

6)  This is a family style event, please no use of profanity or bad behavior.

7)  All participants will be asked to sign a liability waiver prior to racing.

Race Rules:

1)  One handler per dog in the race area. Children under 10 will be allowed one adult to assist.

2)  Puppy and old school races will be 35 feet in length.
      Adult and Masters races will be 50 feet in length.

3)  Races will consist of 6 dogs per heat or a number determined by race officials to ensure competive races.

4)  Handlers will be allowed one toy or object not to exceed 8" in length to attract the dog's attention at  the finish line area.   No food or snacks will be allowed.  No towels.

5)  The top 2 dogs in the preliminary heats will advance to the next round. 

6)  Race officials will determine the dogs to advance per heat.  Officials' rulings are final.

7)  Dachshund breed only, no other breeds are eligible.  Shot records must indicate dog is of
      a Dachshund breed.  Mixed Breeds are not eligible.
